Upcoming ServicesJune 20 – All the Wigmores Test Their Wings Kelly and Will Wigmore share, through words and song, their experiences with having children grow up and head out for lives of their own. Their daughters Morgan and Holly will be 25 and 22 this summer, but the Wigmore home still overflows with pets, art supplies, and memories both old and current. June 27 – Children’s Chapel Day Childhood is an important part of the life of the spirit. Join us as Brendan Swogger and Sage Pagnozzi assisted by Susan Landis-Steward, and other children in the community lead us in chapel as they do it. Brendan and Sage will be speaking on the life of the child at AMC. July 4 – Marriage and Children: The Early Years Erika and Eric Allen will share experiences relating to the work, play and spiritual life of marriage and raising a family together. Erika and Eric are the parents of three children; Mathias, 11, Colin, 9, and Salem, nearly 3. July 11 – A UU Bag of Tricks for Unexpected Life Changes Regardless of how blessed our lives, none of us are exempt from having to deal with a major life change that comes through no “fault,” making, or desire of our own. In this service, we’ll look at a Unitarian bag of tricks we can take advantage of as we come to accept and deal with the reality of painful unexpected life changes, and how these tools can transform us to become spiritually stronger, better people. July 18 – Life in Service Kris Armetta will share her two years of work in Kathmandu, Nepal, where she rescued girls who were being sold into prostitution and established a safe house and education program. Kris is a lifelong UU and credits her parents' sense of justice and love with her ability to pioneer this project, now in the hands of the UN and indigenous people. July 25 – You’re Only Old Once What does it mean to grow old? How does life change with retirement? Who is that older person I see in the mirror every morning? Have I become my mother? When do I become an “elder” in this vast village? (Elder meaning a person of wisdom - not just an elderly person.) We will look at these questions and more as we explore together this life stage many of us are in and the rest are moving toward. August 1 – Newly On Our Own This service will explore the life stage of young adults who are newly on their own; how they deal with decision making, the pressures and joys of their new independence and their choices for the years ahead. August 8 – One Decade At a Time: Seizing Control of Life As mortal beings, we can never have ultimate control. When Mick’s 40th birthday was approaching many of his friends were complaining about “being over the hill.” Rather than succumb to these negative emotions, Mick created a ten-year-plan. He read this plan to his family on his 40th Birthday. This worked so well that he repeated it on his 50th and 60th birthdays. Mick will share some of his plans, the results and the reactions of his friends and family. August 15 – Helping Each Other Along Life’s Journey to Further Stations As we move through life and respond to the challenges facing us, we change who we are and how we view the world. There is a sequence of increasingly complex stations potentially available to us. In these stations, our sense of self and our moral and spiritual perceptions are stable for a time and we can look back with some objectivity on who we were when in earlier stations. As we make the transition from station to station, our immediate community plays a major role in our success or failure. It can either enable us to stay at a station no longer especially adapted to changing circumstances or facilitate our movement to a better one. Gerry Brown and Nancy Zaffaro share the journey from readings and their personal perspectives. August 22 and August 29 – Rev. Dana Worsnop returns to the pulpit!!
